Revington announces Senior Squad additions

4 April 2009

After almost three months in Ireland and having watched several club and inter pro games, I am pleased to announce the following additions to our Irish Mens Senior squad:

  • Gareth Watkins
  • Peter Caruth

Both players have performed well at Club and Inter Pro levels, and both added good value to the two games versus France recently in Dublin.

The current Ireland Mens Senior Squad will be reassessed at the end of August 2009 after the conclusion of both the Champions Challenge II and European Trophy events.

IRELAND A SQUAD
It also gives me great pleasure in announcing the following additions to our Mens Ireland A squad. These players, along with existing members of the Ireland A Squad, will fight for selection to attend the Celtic Cup in June as well as to play games against France A in early July 2009.

  • Ewan Butler (Cookstown)
  • Ian Hughes (Cookstown)
  • Andrew Herbert (Cork Church of Ireland)
  • Neil Lyons (Three Rock Rovers)
  • Michael Maguire (Three Rock Rovers)
  • Chris Cargo (Reading)
  • Paul Gleghorne (Loughborough)
  • Brian Doherty (Corinthians)
  • Chris Pelow (Corinthians)
  • Alan Giles (Pembroke)
  • Fran Lee (Monkstown)

The current Mens Ireland A Squad (including the new additions) will be reassessed at the end of August 2009 after the conclusion of both the Celtic Cup and matches versus France A.

The following Senior Squad players will also be considered for the Celtic Cup should they not be selected for the Champions Challenge II event:

  • David Ames
  • Alan Sothern
  • Gareth Watkins
  • Peter Caruth

The mens program will start a two-month regional training program from 1 May 2009 at the conclusion of the local Irish season, and conclude at the end of June 2009.

WARM WEATHER CAMP IN SPAIN:

The Irish Mens Senior Squad will travel to Alicante, Spain, 12-17 April 2009 for a warm weather training camp. The training camp will be an important phase for the squad as they spend quality time on the training pitch over a 5 day period.

Injury has ruled out Timmy Cockram (broken finger), while David Ames is not deemed fit to travel with the squad after a lengthy period out from the game with an elbow injury. Jonny Bruton (Cork Church of Ireland) and Michael Maguire (Three Rock Rovers) will join the squad as replacements.
