U18 Boys – Squad Announcement 1.6.23

Following an intensive program over the last 5 months including a 3-match series away to England and a 3 Nations tournament in Poland, Head Coach Simon Lowry has announced his Under 18 Men’s squad for the EuroHockey U18 Youth Championships in Krefeld, Germany this July.

The 9-nation tournament runs from Saturday 8th to Sunday 16th July with Ireland competing to retain their Division A status. They are grouped with Belgium, Austria, Scotland and Germany with The Netherlands, England, Poland and Spain in the second group.

Coach Lowry shared there were difficult decisions to be made for selection this year, with a strong talent pool across the country and a bright future for the Senior Men’s upcoming Pro-League campaign also.

“As a self-funded program, we are incredibly grateful to our various squad sponsors, Anchor Engineering, Commit Marketing, EMTEK Ireland, EY Ireland, Ulster University Sport Services, Treo Sport, KennCo Insurance and Cully & Sully for their support, allowing us to implement a high-performance program in the run up to Germany”.

From U18 Boys Head Coach, Simon Lowry; “We are excited to finally get underway with the U18 Boys program as we commence our preparations for the Europeans in July. Congratulations to the 27 players selected as part of the training panel and to those selected for Bisham next week. We are excited to meet England in a 3 match series to really gauge where we are at ahead of a busy program in the coming months.”
