IHL League - Clubs - Monkstown 2012/13
Established in 1894, the club is one of the oldest in Ireland located at Rathdown School in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin.
This season the club is fielding 5 men's teams and 4 ladies' teams. The youth system is one of the largest in the country with over 300 colts and fillies catering for U16s, U14s, U12s, U10s and U8s. With the majority of the juniors going on to join the senior ranks, the club has a very bright future in hockey and expects to expand further in the coming years.
This season Monkstown HC have added the experienced international Peter Caruth to the squad. Head coach Graham Shaw enters his second season in charge with a new assistant Gareth Evans.
Monkstown HC have been in the IHL every year since it's inception, winning the competition the first time in 2012/13 season and will represent Ireland in the European Hockey Trophy in Sardina in 2014, the aim being to restore and EHL place for Ireland.Monkstown also captured the Irish Senior Cup in 2012/13, for the first time in 99 years and completed a treble by winning the Leinster Senior Cup.
Monkstown currently have a number of international players training with the Irish national teams. David Fitzgerald, Lee Cole, Kyle Good, Stephen Cole, David Cole and David Carson. More are expected to follow suit in the coming years as the youth continue to develop a return to the fold for Peter Caruth is anticipated when he recovers from his current injury.Click here to see Monkstown's Fixtures
