AIG Irish Senior Cup Semi-Finalists confirmed after a thrilling round.
Saturday, February 22: Seven of our eight AIG Irish Senior Cup Semi-Finalists have been confirmed after todays games, with close encounters across the board.
In the Women’s Competition, Railway Union returned to Park Avenue with their Semi-Final ticket after a strong win over Ulster Elks. Loreto made no mistake against Pembroke. And UCD and Catholic Institute progress past Pegasus and Corinthian with tense 1-0 wins.
In the Men’s Competition, Monkstown and YMCA both came from behind to beat Cork Harlequins and Pembroke Wanderers. Nothing could separate Corinthian and Annadale with the sides locked at 1-1 at full-time. Corinthian eventually surpassed the visitors in sudden death of the penalty shootouts. Lisnagarvey and Three Rock Rovers will battle for the final Semi-Final spot in the coming weeks.
Elsewhere in the EY Hockey League Division 2, Portrane maintained their perfect record with a 5-2 win over Kilkeel in Men’s Pool B, and Monkstown picked up a crucial win over fellow Leinster side Muckross to keep pace with leading Portadown in Women’s Pool A.
