LORETO 3 UCD 0
Loreto picked up another three points to continue their 100% record in the 2024-25 EYHL Women’s Division 1 season following a 3-0 over UCD. A freak injury in the warm up to Mikayla Power resulted in her being withdrawn before the start of play and UCD were forced to play without her. In a fairly even first half chances were few but there was plenty of end to end action and both sides might have got on the scoresheet had they converted their opportunities. All that changed after the break when Caoimhe Perdue converted a penalty corner in the 37th minute to give the defending champions a 1-0 lead. Loreto went on to dominate in the third quarter with Siofra O’Brien adding a second goal for Loreto from open play in the 45th minute following a long corner. Síofra O’Brien added her second of the match again from open play in the 68th minute to secure a 3-0 win.

It was a lead they maintained until the half-time break. Alex Speers converted a 44th minute penalty corner to equalise for the Belfast based side and there was no further scoring so it went to a shoot-out. AVOCA 0 LISNAGARVEY 1
With Banbridge not playing on the opening weekend due to playing in the EHL, it gave Lisnagarvey the perfect opportunity to get off to a winning start when they visited newly promoted Avoca at Newpark School. In a close encounter with very little quarter given it became clear that one goal might be enough to make the difference to the outcome. The Irish Senior Cup winners and League runners-up Lisnagarvey are old hands at being in the race for honours and Jonny Lynch’s goal from open play was enough to give Lisnagarvey all three points from their first outing.
