League leaders maintain dominance as others fight for crucial points in EYHL double-weekend

Saturday, November 1: The EY Hockey League delivered a day of high-stake encounters as teams battled for position in the first set of fixtures of the double-weekend.

In the Women’s EYHL, Loreto continued their strong form with a win away to Queen’s University to stay clear at the top of the table, while Pegasus picked up a valuable victory on the road at Park Avenue against Railway Union to keep pressure on the leading pack. UCD and Ulster Elks met in an all-university clash, with UCD claiming victory to strengthen their table position. Pembroke Wanderers earned important points in their clash with Portadown, while Old Alex edged a close contest against Catholic Institute in a relegation six-pointer.

In the Men’s EYHL, League leaders Banbridge survived a late push from Monkstown to maintain their place at the top of the table. Lisnagarvey produced an emphatic performance in the Ulster derby against Cookstown, while YMCA bounced back from recent defeats with a narrow win over Pembroke Wanderers. Corinthian claimed the spoils in a tight encounter with Cork C of I at Garryduff, while Avoca continued their momentum with a huge home victory over Three Rock Rovers.
