Hockey Ireland announces teams for EYHL season 2024/25; Glenanne regretfully withdraw and replaced by UCD.

Wednesday July 10, Dublin: Hockey Ireland is pleased to confirm all teams competing in the Men’s and Women’s EY Hockey League Division 1 for season 2024/25. 

In a formal process conducted by the Competitions Committee, whereby invitations to compete are sent and formally accepted by the Clubs, the upcoming season will again see 10 Men’s and 10 Women’s teams competing in EYHL 1, the highest level of domestic Irish Club hockey. 

As part of the process, Hockey Ireland received notice from Glenanne Hockey Club that regretfully they were not able to take up their place in the EYHL1 (Men) for the coming season. 

With Glenanne withdrawing from EYHL, the Competitions Committee announced today that UCD Men’s Hockey Club (the 9th place finisher last season) has confirmed their acceptance of the place for the coming season. 

Avoca Hockey Club and Pembroke Wanderers Hockey Club, both promoted from EHYL D2 last season, along with the other qualified Clubs from EHYL have confirmed their entry for the coming season. All the qualified entries for the Women’s EYHL have also confirmed their place for the coming season. 

EYHL Round 1 (Women) of the upcoming season 2024/25 takes place the weekend of September 28 with Round 1 (Men) taking place the following weekend of October 5. All players, coaches, umpires and technical officials are reminded that membership registration for the new season is now open. Visit hockey.ie/membership to register.
