The regular 18 rounds of EYHL season may be complete, and Easter Sunday is just around the corner, but that doesn’t mean hockey is taking a break. Far from it.
This week, three of our leading clubs are in European club action.
Railway Union travel to HC ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands to represent Ireland in the Women’s EHL Final 12. They begin their campaign this Wednesday with a game against Stichtsche known as SCHC from Biltohoven in the Netherlands, with a start time of 6:15pm. If Railway Union win, they will face hosts Den Bosch in the next round. If they lose, they will meet another first round losing side, with that match taking place on Friday.
The Euro Hockey Club Trophy I (Men) is being hosted by Lisnagarvey from April 18th to April 21st in Lisburn Northern Ireland. They begin their campaign with a game against Slavia Prague at 5:15 p.m. on Friday, April 18th. On Saturday, April 19th, Lisnagarvey take on Welsh team Cardiff & Met at 4:45 p.m. Their final pool game is on Sunday, April 20th against Italian side ASD Tevere, also at 4:45pm. On Monday, team will compete in placement matches, with each pool position facing its counterpart from the other pool (e.g. 1st vs 1st for the title, 2nd vs 2nd for 3rd place and 3rd vs 3rd for 5th place).
In the Euro Hockey Club Trophy I (Women) Loreto will represent Ireland. They travel to Rakovnik in Czechia and have been drawn in a pool against English and Italian opposition. On Friday, April 18th, Loreto take on Hampstead & Westminster at 11:45am. On Sunday, April 20th, they face SG Amiscora SCD at 11:15 a.m. Placement matches will be played on Monday, April 21st following the same format as the men’s competition.
