Momentum and Must-Win Clashes Define Another Big Weekend in the EY Hockey League

Wednesday, February 4: The EY Hockey League Division 1 & 2 battles continue into February, with sides looking to build on their performances last weekend.

In the Women’s EYHL, Railway Union will look to build on their winning start to 2026 as they face Pembroke Wanderers at Serpentine Avenue, while the hosts will hope to cause an upset that could carry them back into play-off contention. Ulster Elks host Catholic Institute in Jordanstown in a must win game for both sides as they continue to try find a way out of the relegation zone. And UCD will look to bounce back from their loss last week as they host Old Alex.

In the Men’s EYHL, just one match this weekend sees Pembroke Wanderers welcome Cork C of I as both return to action after the winter break. C of I will make the long journey to Dublin with aspirations of picking up a win that would go a long way in their fight for survival while hosts Pembroke will be keen to build early momentum as they look to solidify their EY Champions Trophy play-off place.

In the Women’s EYHL2, Lisnagarvey make their debut as they travel south to face in-form UCC. Trinity Ladies’ will hope to cause another provincial upset when they host Avoca. Belfast Harlequins and Ards go head-to-head in an all-Ulster clash, with the latter aiming to make it two wins from two. And both University of Galway and Cork Harlequins will hope to recover from their Round 1 losses when they meet in Dangan.

In the Men’s EYHL2, Cork Harlequins face Bandon in a Munster rivalry that’s sure to deliver plenty of goals. Instonians and Queen’s University also face off in a provincial clash, with the former looking to get one over on QUB on home soil. Portrane will look to pick up a second win when they face Catholic Institute in Donabate. Bray travel north for the second time in a row as they face South Antrim. And Clontarf take on CI Annadale with the visitors targeting a second win from two as they continue their promotion bid.
