Railway Union Draw Scottish Newcomers Watsonian HC in Euro Hockey League Final 12

Wednesday, October 16: Following their impressive EY Champions Trophy win, Railway Union’s Euro Hockey League Final 12 opponents have been confirmed as Scottish newcomers Watsonian Hockey Club.

Having made history at last season’s EHL by becoming the first Irish Women’s club to record a win in the competition, beating Sumchanka 1-0, Railway will hope they can go one better this season and set up a rematch with hosts HC ‘s-Hertongenbosch with a win over Scottish newcomers Watsonian HC

Railway earned their spot in Europe last May with a 2-1 win over rivals Loreto in Banbridge making them the first women’s team to lift the EY Champions Trophy two years in a row. But that wasn’t the end of their domestic dominance. Railway also defeated Loreto in the AIG Irish Senior Cup and while also securing a Leinster Jacqui Potter Cup with their win over Avoca.

Railway have carried their fine form into this season, currently sitting joint top of the EY Hockey League with Loreto. The side have enjoyed an almost flawless start to the campaign, with new signing Hollai Quinn enjoying a superb start to life with the South Dublin club, scoring six goals in their opening six games.

Railway Union will face Watsonian HC in the opening game of the EHL Final 12 on Wednesday, April 1st 2026.
