Hockey Ireland is proud to celebrate Disability in Sport Week by reflecting on an extraordinary year of achievement, growth, and commitment to inclusion across our hockey community.
In June, our National ID Team (Intellectual Disability Team) proudly represented Ireland at the Santorelli Cup in Bulgaria, before they travelled to Monchengladbach, Germany in August where they competed in the EuroHockey ID Championships. Their performances were a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when opportunity and talent come together, and we could not be prouder of the players, coaches, and support team who made this milestone possible.
Across all four provinces, the Hockey4All programme continues to thrive, with 16 active clubs offering inclusive hockey for players with both physical and intellectual disabilities. These clubs embody the true spirit of community sport – creating spaces where everyone is welcomed, supported, and encouraged to reach their potential.
Looking ahead, Hockey Ireland is committed to the continued development of our National ID Team. Trials have already taken place, with more scheduled throughout the year alongside scouting opportunities. By strengthening our pathways, we aim to ensure that every player with the ambition to represent Ireland has the chance to be seen, supported, and developed.
We are delighted to close the FIH Pro League Dublin 2025 with a Hockey4All Blitz on Sunday, 14th December on the Sport Ireland Campus. This event will bring players, clubs, families, and supporters together to celebrate the joy of inclusive hockey with the athletes at the heart of it.
Hockey Ireland remains committed to building a sport where everyone belongs and we are excited for the journey ahead.
