June 19, Dublin: Hockey Ireland is delighted to announce that member registration for the upcoming 2025/26 season is now open.
The early opening of its membership registration system allows Hockey Ireland to facilitate Clubs and Members as they prepare for the new season ahead. Today’s opening is six weeks before the formal closure of Season 2024/25 on July 31, 2025 and at which time existing membership lapses.
Hockey Ireland recommends members register early and will continue to work with the Provinces and the Clubs to ensure all members of all ages, playing and non-playing, senior and juniors, are registered for the new season ahead.
Hockey Ireland membership is a mandatory requirement for all involved in the sport of Hockey, whether playing competitively or socially, or a non-playing member associated with the sport in some way for example, coaching, umpiring or volunteering in any capacity. Full membership compliance is an essential part of sustaining and developing the sport across the island of Ireland.
Membership fees for Season 2025/26 remain unchanged from the season prior with members choosing from two categories, either Playing (SENIOR €30 / £26 or JUNIOR €20 / £17.50) or non-Playing (BASIC €10 / £9). Junior membership is for all those under the age of 18.
With Hockey Ireland membership, all members receive Personal Accident Insurance, free vetting for their Club across the Provinces of Leinster, Munster and Connacht, access to Hockey Ireland coaching courses, programmes and camps, as well as partner discounts including an AIG car insurance 15% discount.
Year on Year membership continues to grow with over 28,500 members registered in Season 2024/25, up 16% from the Season prior and following the relaunch of its membership model. Hockey Ireland expects to exceed 30,000 members for the new season ahead, using its membership base to deliver its new strategic plan, Unleash the Power of Hockey, which was launched last summer.
In 2024, following a series of collaborative Think Tanks with Provinces and Clubs across the country, Hockey Ireland successfully re-launched its Membership Registration Programme following a proposal that was unanimously voted in at the 2024 Annual General Meeting.
These productive conversations with hockey’s grassroots communities helped shape a more user-friendly registration experience and informed the development of new membership products and pricing structures designed to meet the diverse needs of players, supporters, and non-playing members.
Speaking on the launch of membership 2025/26, Anne McCormack, Hockey Ireland CEO said:
“Our membership programme continues to provide a sustainable and segmented model, with tailored price points to reflect different levels of engagement.”
“The model not only ensures more equitable access but also strengthens the foundation of our membership-based funding, providing a clearer path to long-term growth.”
“We are grateful to the Provinces and Clubs for their continued commitment to supporting and ensuring the full compliance of member enrolment. Their engagement has been instrumental in driving compliance and helping us deliver a more streamlined and valuable membership experience.”
