Last week, we were delighted to welcome EuroHockey and specialist consultants BluePrint to Ireland as we officially began developing the next strategic plan for hockey across the island. This marks the start of an important journey that will shape the direction of our sport for the years ahead.
It was an action-packed and inspiring few days, filled with energy, ideas, and meaningful conversations. Together with EuroHockey and BluePrint, we engaged with a wide range of key stakeholders, including Sport NI, Sport Ireland, the Olympic Federation of Ireland, and Special Olympics Ireland. Their insights, perspectives, and support are critical to ensuring that our sport continues to grow and thrive at every level.
At the heart of this new strategic plan is a simple but powerful belief: we are stronger when we work together. This is not a plan that will be created in isolation – it’s one built with our four provinces at the centre of the process, ensuring a shared, positive, and forward-looking vision for the sport.
We were delighted to have all four provinces represented in our opening session, alongside members of the Hockey Ireland Board. It was also hugely valuable to involve our full staff team in a dedicated consultation workshop, setting the tone for an inclusive and collaborative planning process right from the very beginning.
The next vital step in this process is to widen the consultation and bring the voices of the hockey community to the forefront. We are now reaching out to players, coaches, umpires, officials, volunteers, schools, clubs, and supporters across Ireland to ensure your perspectives help shape the future of our sport. Your insights and experiences are essential to creating a strategy that truly represents the whole hockey family.
We want to make sure that every perspective is included. If you’d like to contribute your thoughts and ideas, please complete our survey today:
