COVID19 UPDATE:

Following advice from the HSE, all courses have been postponed until the end of June. The situation with regard to courses scheduled for August and September 2020 will be reviewed in mid June.

Gaining a Hockey Ireland Coaching Qualification

If you wish to gain a Hockey Ireland Coaching Qualification, pathway courses are generally run between May and September of each year. A diagram of the Coaching Pathway is below. Pathway courses are certified by Coaching Ireland and run from Fundamental to Level 3. The pathway diagram below gives details of the progression between courses and the order in which they run. Please note that Hockey Ireland strongly advocates that any coach or volunteer dealing with U18 players must have their Safeguarding 1 Awareness Certificate. Full details of Pathway Courses are published in the Coaching section on our website.

Outside of pathway courses, Hockey Ireland also runs a number of continuous professional development courses named Stepping Stones. These courses are classroom based, non-certified sessions that all coaches can attend regardless of level of qualification. Stepping Stones courses are run throughout the year and cover a wide range of topics.
